A High-Fidelity Phantom for Pelvic Floor Examination Training and Device Testing
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Bristol
Department Name: Aerospace Engineering
Abstract
This project aims to develop an affordable soft robotic phantom for the purpose of PF clinician/
physiotherapist training and demonstration to patients as well as for PF device testing. The phantom will
demonstrate the contraction and relaxation of the musculature and the dynamics between the relevant
anatomy, informed by professionals in the medical field. Drawing on state-of-the-art soft robotics
research, this project will explore artificial muscles, smart sensing and stiffness variation.
