Abstract
An angular analysis of analysis ofthe B - K1 + U+ + U- decay will be performed using data collected by the LHCb experiment, other decays mediated by this quark-level transition b - s+ l+ + l- have been measured to be in tension with Standard Model predictions. The CP-averaged angular observables from this decay will be compared against the B - K* + U+ + U- decay, where the difference in parity between the K1 and K* states will provide a sensitive test for potential new heavy bosons that are inaccessible by means of direct searches.
Additional work to be carried out for the LHCb experiment involves the analysis of the construction of the vertex locater (VELO). Construction data from newly built detector modules will be used to improve the simulation of the newly constructed detector to better understand its performance capabilities and potential issues.
