The Geographies of the digital outdoors: bringing together digital and outdoor learning spaces in Welsh Primary Schools
Lead Research Organisation:
CARDIFF UNIVERSITY
Department Name: Cardiff School of Planning and Geography
Abstract
The research will investigate how different Welsh Primary schools are engaging with digital and physical spaces, and the perceived impact on pedagogy and practice, from a practitioner perspective. It will study how these might be impacting on pedagogy, practice and, consequently, on pupil attainment, wellbeing, and the transition to the Curriculum for Wales. Qualitative data from interviews, digital methods and ethnographic observation, would complement survey data, providing further critical insight into key barriers and opportunities for schools in addressing educational and wellbeing challenges during this period of change. Due to its scope and focus, this evidence would be valuable from government-level policy making, to school-level professional development.
