Evolving cyclopropane fatty acid synthase (CFAS) enzymes into biocatalysts for the synthesis of cyclopropane containing drugs and chemicals
Lead Research Organisation:
University College London
Department Name: Chemistry
Abstract
This project is a new collaboration between GSK and Dr Daniele Castagnolo (DC) at King's College London and is aimed at the characterization and engineering of cyclopropane fatty acid synthase (CFAS) enzymes to turn them into biocatalysts for the synthesis of cyclopropane containing drugs and chemicals through more sustainable industrial processes. The project fully aligns with the BBSRC strategic priority "New strategic approaches to industrial biotechnology".
