Quantum optimisation for highly constrained problems in customer data science
Lead Research Organisation:
Durham University
Department Name: Physics
Abstract
This project, co-funded by Dunnhumby (https://www.dunnhumby.com/#) will examine the application of quantum computers to solve highly constrained problems which arise in real-world customer data science use cases. The student will work closely with data scientists at Dunnhumby to understand how quantum computers could be applied to their problems and where potentially game-changing opportunities could arise. We will study the potential from both gate model and annealing paradigms of computing and understand how approaches would need to be specialized for these specific instances.
