Department Name: Geography
Abstract
This project aims to explore the financialization of water in Brazil, in light of the recently approved new legal framework
for basic sanitation. It was supported by the Federal Government with the justification that facilitating privatization would
help guarantee universal access to water. This research looks at the dynamics that have allowed the new law to be
implemented, almost without any opposition.
