Abstract
This project falls within the EPSRC Synthetic Organic Chemistry research area.
Spirocycles are privileged structures in medicinal chemistry due to their rigidity, high sp3 content and ease of access to unexplored three-dimensional chemical space. Spirocyclic molecules, and in particular spiroazetidines, have proved to be valuable bioisosteres for medicinally relevant groups such as morpholines and piperidines with metabolic stability and protein binding being improved significantly.
