Low-Latency Fibre Optics Communications using Hollow Core Optical Fibres
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Southampton
Department Name: Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC)
Abstract
The work will deal with design and realization of erbium doped fibre amplifiers optimized for use with emerging hollow core fibres. The amplifiers will be tested with hollow core fibres fabricated by our industrial partner Lumenisity.
The research aim is to probe ultimate limits of data transmission through emerging hollow core fibres, especially in terms of the maximum distance and minimum number of amplifications stages.
