Abstract

The process of end-user products involves many challenges. The unplanned consequences of processing raw materials to final products places tremendous burden of accountability, and process innovation activities to mitigate the contributing waste and degradation to the planet's natural resources and harmful effect at the societal level.
The majority of environmental impacts are a result of Chemistry -based activities, grounded in the life cycle of the chemicals types, quantities utilised, chemicals released; and the processing activities in Energy conversion, transportation and utilisation, water processing, mining and petroleum systems, textile and leather industry, printing and dyeing, agriculture and food processing, medicine and health care product manufacturing, and so many others.
The current model of adoption for chemistry and chemical processing as well as resources exploitation and management under a linear economy has generated severe environmental impacts, which puts the continuity of the biosphere at risk in sustaining the ecosystem. The consideration of sustainability, revolves around four parameters
1. The establishment of governing principles such as Circular economy, Impact assessment, LCA, Cradle to Grave, and Cradle to Cradle, and the targets set by Millennium Development Goals.
2. Analysis of the methodologies, techniques, applied in Chemical Processing & waste management; such as Big data and Machine learning, Knowledge management,
3. The study of standards for quality and decision making; and
4. the study of emerging technologies.
In view of these wide-ranging topics, the potential subjects for the research include (but are not limited to):
1. Chemical Processing & waste management driven technology-based applications;
2. Developing Chemical Processing & waste management edifices through the implementation of cleaner production practice;
3. Developing innovative indicators for measuring effectiveness of presenting sustainable concepts in Chemical Processing & waste management;
4. Developing original organisational models and visions for supporting implementation of Chemical Processing & waste management for a sustainable industry;
