Biocatalytic Routes to Agrochemical Resorcinol Targets
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Chemistry
Abstract
There is a growing demand from government, industry and the public for greener/sustainable routes to complex molecules. Companies such as our partner Syngenta have dedicated biocatalysis teams that are applying these new tools on an industrial scale. This new collaborative project will optimise new biocatalytic cascades to the synthesis of novel Herbicidal Dione Motifs (HDMs) such as resorcinols. This brings together Campopiano and Wallace (FLF and SL, SBS) and builds on preliminary data from the Principal's Innovation Award 2020. It falls under the Biocatalysis & Engineering Biology theme of the EPSRC/UKRI.
