The Rise of Social Policy as Industrial Policy in the European Union?
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Oxford
Department Name: Social Policy and Intervention
Abstract
To investigate the social dimension of the EU's new industrial policy. The project is driven by two sets of questions: First, to what extent are EU public investment policies driven by social purposes and how does the codification of the social dimension vary across various areas of EU public investment? And second, who has driven, shaped, and braked the rise of the EU's industrial policy as social policy, what have been their motivations in doing so, and what are the coalitional dynamics that explain the variation in the outcomes of such initiatives across areas and projects?
