Bringing law to its senses: waste, olfactory politics and the search for justice in New York City's 'overburdened' communities
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Cambridge
Department Name: Geography
Abstract
By drawing on scholarship at the intersection between sensory, legal and urban geographies, this research aims to fill
empirical and theoretical lacunas relating to waste infrastructure and legislation in New York City. Through considering
the paradoxes of law's inherently visual gaze and justice's blindness, it would explore the sensorial experiences and
evidence presented by many "overburdened communities".
