Preventing homelessness at the intersection of hostile policies: the experiences of young refugees in Cardiff
Lead Research Organisation:
CARDIFF UNIVERSITY
Department Name: Cardiff School of Planning and Geography
Abstract
The project centres on a collaborative intervention between the WRC, Llamau and Cardiff Council, delivered in Cardiff and designed to prevent homelessness amongst young refugees. The research will provide evidence on the effectiveness of the intervention. The findings are expected to have relevance across Wales, particularly in the other asylum dispersal areas of Newport, Swansea and Wrexham, but also throughout the rest of the UK and potentially further afield, given that homelessness amongst asylum seekers and refugees is a persistent problem across Europe (Baptista et al. 2016).
