Abstract

The area of FPGA technology is of great interest to me. I recognise their advantages of speed
over processors in certain applications and admire their flexibility when compared to ASICs. I was
especially excited when I had the chance to use an FPGA development board as the foundation for our
third year Embedded Systems module project. I aim to use FPGAs more in the future, to use their
reconfigurability to my advantage in my projects.
The conjunction of hardware and software is where I thrive. Many of my skills and
experiences lay within this scope and is a field I very much enjoy working within. I strive to develop
new ways of interfacing the two areas, additionally concerning areas of AI and networking. FPGA
technology may open many new opportunities in these regions and is something I would very much
like to be involved with.
