Abstract

Lattice QCD calculation of form factors for B(s) to light meson semileptonic decays and associated phenomenology
The key objectives of the research are the determination, with improved precision over what is currently known, of the hadronic form factors needed to predict Standard Model rates for semileptonic decays of several B(s) weak decays to light mesons. The associated phenomenology will include new determinations of the CKM matrix element Vub as well as predictions for rare decays.
The novel research content includes new, greater precision results for the form factors and consequently, a more precise determination of Vub, a key parameter in the search for physics beyond the Standard Model. This should be possible given the use of the 'heavy HISQ' method for dealing with the b quark.
The methodology to be used is lattice QCD, with MILC nf=2+1+1 HISQ gauge field configurations and HISQ heavy quarks (from charm to bottom).
