Morphing Waverider Geometries at High-Speed and their Control
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Glasgow
Department Name: School of Engineering
Abstract
Research will be conducted using Computational Fluid Dynamics techniques to determine optimal designs for the vehicle in different flow fields. A scale model will be examined experimentally in a high-speed wind tunnel to determine aerodynamic and flow characteristics. Machine learning capabilities will be developed to enable real-time morphing of the surface geometry and allow the vehicle to operate in a wider range of flight conditions. The effect of this will be investigated and active and dynamic control algorithms will be derived to overcome flow instability issues
