Department Name: School of Medicine
Abstract
Striatal medium spiny neurons (MSNs) bear the brunt of pathology in Huntington's disease (HD).You will use a range of in vitro and in vivo cell, molecular genetic and whole animal techniques todissect how the transcription factors FoxP1 andMef2C function in MSNs differentiation. Thisknowledge is key for optimising MSN differentiationprotocols from stem cells for disease modelling andcell therapies, and understanding the degenerationof MSNs in HD.
