Acceptance of voice interfaces in cars
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Nottingham
Department Name: Faculty of Engineering
Abstract
The objective of the project is to assess the current voice interfaces in cars and get an insight on the issues currently existing that could inhibit the usage. Futher, the motivations and demotivations of voice interface for will be analysed to understand the technology acceptance. Additionally, strategies to change the users' behaviours will be developed in order to encourage the use of voice interface in automobiles over other types of interfaces.
To achieve this, surveys assessing the acceptance of voice interfaces, driving simulator based studies and on-road studies on the test track will be conducted to evaluate the interaction of users with the voice-based information system.
The results obtained will be crucial for development and design of voice interfaces in current automobiles and possibly for future cars.
