Abstract

An exploration via the day-to-day experiences of actors involved in the provisioning of school food beyond the dining hall in primary state schools in east London.
The research aims to contribute to a better understanding of the role of school food in the UK by offering an in-depth qualitative study of school food provisioning in east London state primary schools - beyond the dinning hall and household settings. It will seek to understand the role, responsibilities and social relations that exist between actors within school kitchens (if applicable) and managing catering arrangements within schools (including school chefs, catering and kitchen staff, midday supervisors and teachers) and those involved in procuring and sourcing school food (including catering businesses, wholesalers, policymakers and NGOs).
