Abstract
To gain a fundamental understanding of the role(s) of DES in synthesis, selected case reactions will be systematically examined in terms of yield, selectivity, rate and ease of separation. Importantly, this will lead to detailed structure-parameter relationships that will give fundamental insights into future design.
