Oil Change: Adaptation and plasticity of anemones in response to hydrocarbon pollution and climate stress
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Aberdeen
Department Name: Inst of Biological and Environmental Sci
Abstract
Oil change uses a collaboration between the University of Aberdeen and Heriot-Watt University to assess the phenotypic and genetic response of the beadlet anemone Actinia equina to exposure to hydrocarbon pollution and simultaneous temperature stress. We will also examine whether populations around the coastline of Scotland show evidence of local genetic adaptation to historic hydrocarbon pollution.
