Large scale integrated quantum photonics for simulating particle physics
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Bristol
Department Name: Physics
Abstract
The project will tackle the development of novel photonic hardware, control of large-scale photonic circuitry, quantum gate design and theoretical mappings for analogue quantum simulators. The project will be supervised by Anthony Laing, co-Director of Bristol's Quantum Engineering and Technology Labs, and co-supervised by the lead of Bristol's LHCb group, Prof. Jonas Rademacker. (Laing and Rademacker previously co-supervised a PhD on which this project will build; that student just secured her postdoc at Grenoble). This project will include recent breakthroughs from Prof. Laing's group in error mitigation techniques for programmable photonic quantum simulation [4-6], and complements the photonic simulation work of WP4 in the QCS Hub on simulating reaction dynamics.
