Redox Flow Batteries
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Cambridge
Department Name: Chemistry
Abstract
The project involves the study of redox flow batteries with a combination of NMR, EPR, IR and UV visible spectroscopy. The student will look at natural products such as flavin and quinone derivatives and use spectroscopies to understand both their functioning and their degradation mechanisms. In the first instance he will investigate why the flavin system is not reversible and what the multi electron processes involve. The work develop new cells to enable the IR and UV/vis methods and their application to the relevant electrochemical systems.
