Computational model of roll to roll embossing of OCS products
Lead Research Organisation:

Department Name: Mechanical Engineering
Abstract
The main objective of this project is to develop a computational 2D/3D FEM model accounting for the visco-elastic behaviour of a polymer coating within the roll to roll embossing process used to product market leading organic coated steel at Tata Steel's Shotton works on Deeside. As well as the complex thermal-mechanical contact conditions, mold pattern and loading/filling and recovery stage post contact/embossing will be included. This novel model will have to account for complex multi body contact within the mathematical representation of the embossed texture pattern as well as the detailed property of the polymer under a range stress, temperature, strain rate and initial surface state.
