Probing the Standard Model with Electroweak Bosons at LHCb

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

The project will use data collected at the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider to probe the Standard Model of particle physics, through measurements of electroweak bosons. The production and properties of these bosons are sensitive to effects that arise in the theories beyond the Standard Model. This means that high precision measurements here enable us to test our current understanding of nature, allowing us to investigate modelling and to deliver indirect searches for new physics. The project will also develop new approaches for experimental measurements with these large datasets, enabling the best possible use of the LHCb data.
