Searching for physics beyond the Standard Model with MicroBooNE

Abstract

Various observations over recent decades have given indications of anomalous appearance of electron-like activity in beams of muon neutrinos. This could indicate some form of beyond-Standard Model physics. In this project, the student will search for production of e+e- pairs in neutrino interactions in the MicroBooNE detector, which would be evidence for new physics such as heavy vector bosons.
