The coordination chemistry of sensitising PGM complexes

The 2000 ng m-3 Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) for "soluble platinum" was set on the basis of limited air sampling data. In 2008, a health-based study recommended decreasing the limit to 5 ng m-3 ng. These are the only publicly available data on which an upcoming review of the Pt OEL can currently be based. The insight this PhD would provide is a critical part of establishing the solid scientific basis for the recommendation of pgm OEL that can ensure that sufficient and bespoke safety measures can be employed at industrial sites where pgm salts are used.
