Quantum estimation in gravity and cosmology

Lead Research Organisation: UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON
Department Name: London Centre for Nanotechnology

Abstract

The project's focus is Gaussian quantum information theory and estimation in quantum cosmology and gravity. By considering perturbation theory around FLRW Universe one may obtain leading order fluctuations from the early Universe. Those can be quantized and result in certain observables (like tensor-to-scalar ratio) that cosmologists aim to measure. This project aims to develop a theoretical framework for optimal measurements of certain parameters in dominating cosmological models which could be used in practice in observational cosmology. Techniques used are also applicable in other aspects of gravitational physics including black holes, linearized quantum gravity or certain dilaton gravity models, e.g. J-T gravity. The project aims to investigate these directions as well.
