Impact of pregnancy-specific glycoproteins on development and ageing

Abstract

We aim to investigate how genetic variation impacts PSG gene regulation and consequently on
cellular phenotypes in trophoblast and senescent cells. We will leverage cutting-edge stem cell and
sequencing technologies with epigenomics and functional assays, bringing together expertise in trophoblast
gene regulation (Branco lab), population genomics/epigenomics (Bell lab) and ageing (Altos Labs). More
specifically, we aim to:
1. Deeply characterise the genetics of the PSG locus on a set of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines.
2. Test the impact of PSG genetic variation on iPSC-derived trophoblast cells.
3. Test the impact of PSG genetic variation on iPSC-derived cellular models of senescence
