A video-ethnography of hybrid mobile subjects_ exploring conflictual interactions between female cyclists and motorists at urban junctions.

Abstract

This research looks at the phenomenology of mobility justice using the method of video-ethnography to understand gender differences at urban junctions in Cardiff and Lisbon.
Important reports reveal a poorly investigated fact: women cyclists are more likely to be involved in conflicts with car drivers on urban intersections than men cyclists. Taking the Actor-Network-Theory framework, this study explores how interactions between different hybrid mobile subjects happen to limit mutual cooperation to further understand what role gender plays in this encounter.
