Improving the design of vector control trials

Lead Research Organisation: University of Glasgow
Department Name: College of Medical, Veterinary, Life Sci

Abstract

Focussing on malaria transmission in Africa, this project will investigate the consequences of altering and simplifying vector control trial design for the generalizability and robustness of epidemiological outcomes. This will be achieved through a range of activities including quantitative evidence review and meta-analyses, ecological and epidemiological modelling, and simulation exercises designed to assess the impact of different trial designs (cRCT and alternatives), durations, and ecological starting conditions on trial outcomes. This will include simulation of the effects of varying trial duration, ecological heterogeneity, and assessment of relationships between epidemiological outcomes and entomological indicators across diverse contexts.
