Applications of algebraic topology to quantum field theory

Lead Research Organisation: University of Cambridge
Department Name: Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics

Abstract

The project will begin by studying anomalies in 2-dimensional quantum field theories, using the mathematical theory of quadratic forms. Next, anomalies in quantum field theories in higher dimensions will be studied using the theory of Lie algebras. Finally, the use of infinity categories will be used to study quantum field theories and their generalized symmetries.
