Abstract

I have engaged my interest in medical technology advancements through my involvement with the MedTech foundation. For the last two years I have been on the student committee for the MedTech Foundation at the University of Leeds. The MedTech Foundation is an interdisciplinary group that seeks to encourage innovative design of Medical Technology through workshops and talks with guest speakers. I initially became involved in MedTech in my first year when seeking an extracurricular route to explore my interest in healthcare technology. It gave me the opportunity to work with students from different disciplines. I was keen to become part of the committee as it provided such a unique and exciting opportunity for me. I ran the 'Innovation programme' in my third year which was a series of workshops for all disciplines with the aim for student teams to design a solution for global health challenges which were presented by guest speakers from healthcare, supported by speakers from academia and industry.
