Evaluating the efficiency of health financing for Universal Health Coverage in LMIC. Case study of Kenya

Department Name: Wolfson Institute of Population Health
Abstract
The lack of universal access to quality healthcare in LMICs has long been attributed to scarcity of resources. However, evidence increasingly suggest that despite the level of resources, efforts to attain universal coverage would remain futile if the available resources are not in fact utilized efficiently. Health systems in developing countries continue to report the highest inefficiencies, while advanced countries with developed health systems report high efficiency scores. Efficiency, therefore, could be the missing link for health systems in LMICs to making significant progress with UHC.
