Hydrogen Combustion for Aviation
Lead Research Organisation:
CARDIFF UNIVERSITY
Department Name: Sch of Engineering
Abstract
The project will investigate how to achieve thermal efficiency & sufficient power output for hydrogen combustion in a control volume
The aim of the project is to provide operating parameters as general principle via simulation, experimentation, and validation. This will be achieved by:
i) Identifying the required key operating parameters for hydrogen combustion,
ii) Simulation & modelling including CFD suitable for combustion modelling i.e. ANSYS, compression of intake air, variation of air fuel mix, Injection method, Injection and ignition timing.
iii) Develop experimental setup including Compression of intake air, Variation of air fuel mix, injection method, injection and ignition timing.
iv) Validation, including engine testing
v) Proposed Application & Integration
