Risky play in UK Preschoolers: understanding the influences in early education settings
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Cambridge
Department Name: MRC Epidemiology Unit
Abstract
research shows benefits for children`s physical and mental development, including improved problem-solving and creativity, the abilities
necessary for today`s young learners. Meanwhile, international findings indicate that due to increased emphasis on
school readiness and safety regulations, many early years programs favour structured indoor activities leading to
decreased opportunities for risk exposures. The PhD doctoral project will aim to address the gap in our knowledge about risky play in UK early years education settings. The
project proposes employing a mixed-methods approach.
