Modelling and Simulation Framework for Nuclear Reactor Physics and Reactor Shielding
Lead Research Organisation:
Imperial College London
Department Name: Mechanical Engineering
Abstract
The aim of this PhD project is to develop innovative, and cutting-edge, "spline-enhanced" (e.g., NURBS, trimmed NURBS, T-splines, LR-B-splines, U-splines, subdivision surfaces, polyhedral splines, manifold splines, and poly-cube spline) curvilinear polygonal (2D) and polyhedral (3D) computational mesh generation algorithms. The overall aim of this PhD project is to streamline the computer aided geometric design (CAGD) to computer aided engineering (CAE) analysis of nuclear reactor physics and reactor shielding problems. This ensures that the same geometric description that is utilised in CAGD software is also utilised within the CAE analysis of complex partial differential equations (PDEs).
