Abstract
This project aims to investigate the repair materials best suited for conservation use in heritage rammed earth and/or adobe earthen buildings. Previous research has indicated that matching the geotechnical properties of earthen repair materials with that of the existing structure could improve the performance of the repair. A review of current repair techniques will be followed by investigation of how the precision of this match affects repair performance (e.g. strength and durability), with the aim of producing recommendations of preferred repair methods and material mixes.
