Abstract
Virtual reality's effectiveness as a tool for exposure therapy in digitally reconstructed environments has been proven (Slater, Steed, Banakou,Bailenson, De la Pena). The goal of my research is to build on those foundations through the construction of a procedurally-generated system that will interpret automatic user feedback (HRV, GSR and gaze detection) in real-time, altering the virtual scenario accordingly. By tailoring the level of intensity to a user's relative emotional valence and customized level of proficiency inside virtual space, as well as tailoring avatars to match their real-world counterparts, I aim to heighten the impact of these virtual experiences (both in terms of information retention as well as behavioural change) as well as improve the quality of analytical feedback gathered.
