Description | Social Network Analysis in Scotland Group (SNAS) - Committee Member |
Organisation | University of Edinburgh |
Department | School of Social and Political Science |
Country | United Kingdom |
Sector | Academic/University |
PI Contribution | I'm a committee member for the SNAS group, based at the University of Edimburgh. The aim of this working group is to provide a forum to discuss projects, issues and ideas related to Social Network Analysis (SNA). My role is to give a voice to PGR students currently/intending to use SNA in their research by providing them with workshops and discussion pannels to present their research and establish collaborations. Additionally, I manage the social media channels for SNAS. |
Collaborator Contribution | I've been solely involved in this collaboration. |

Description | Special Interest Group on Social Identity Approach Modelling (SIAM-SIG) - Member |
Organisation | European Social Simulation Association |
Country | Switzerland |
Sector | Learned Society |
PI Contribution | As part of the European Social Simulation Association (ESSA), the SIAM-SIG network brings together scholars interested in the formalisation of (parts of) the social identity approach. My PhD topic about social identity and protest emergence modelling using agent-based simulations are closely aligned with this group's interests. I have attended group meetings where new research collaborations and topics have been proposed as well as participated in two Social Simulation week-long events organised by ESSA. |
Collaborator Contribution | I'm solely collaborating with SIAM-SIG |

Results and Impact | The 3 minutes thesis (3MT) is an academic competition for research students, challenging them to present their research to a non-specialist audience and giving them the opportunity to practice their public engagement skills. Anyone who is active in a PhD, MPhil or MRes or any other research programme (at any stage, including thesis under submission) will be eligible to participate in 3MT, as long as the degree is at least two thirds research. |
