Quantification of the causes of human injuries from buried blast events
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Sheffield
Department Name: Civil and Structural Engineering
Abstract
This project will help to improve the understanding of how blast waves are transmitted through human tissue. Develop a numerical model to look at the effect buried explosive output has on ballistic gelatine (a human tissue surrogate).
From this, develop a physical test series that compares the transmission of shock waves from buried explosive through ballistic gelatine with free air. With the aim of informing future protection schemes.
