Taiwan Partnering Award: Investigation of proteins involved in African swine fever virus entry for vaccine development
Lead Research Organisation:
The Pirbright Institute
Department Name: African Swine Fever Virus
Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.
Description | Research materials and knowledge on African swine fever virus have been exchanged between Pirbright Institute and Academica Sinica Taipei Taiwan as part of this collaborative project. Recombinant ASFV proteins proposed to be involved in virus entry were expressed using an insect virus baculovirus and mammalian vaccinia virus vectors. These recombinant proteins were tested and shown to be recognized by sera from pigs immunized with candidate ASFV live attenuated vaccines. Antisera raised in rabbits or mice were tested for ability to neutralise ASFV infection in porcine macrophages. Weak neutralization was observed with sera raised against against a proposed entry fusion complex protein. |
