PI Contribution We have an excellent opportunity through our collaboration with Prof Linda Griffith at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, USA, to explore and establish a protocol for a co-culture method of endometrial cells which is an essential aspect of my PhD studies. Prof Griffith has extended an invitation to visit her laboratory at MIT and offered a unique interdisciplinary (biology and chemical engineering) training opportunity and I hope my visit will strengthen collaboration with the Griffith Group for future collaborative opportunities.
Collaborator Contribution Prof Griffith has a world-leading expertise in bioengineering of 3D cell co-culture of human endometrial cells. Post-docs from her team have offered their day-to-day support on the bench which will provide me with unparalleled learning environment. Taking this training opportunity will allow me to acquire stronger scientific and strategic thinking; a broader scientific skillset and make me personally and professionally more versatile. All this will enhance both my future work and life experience.
Impact I have received the highly competitive Society for Reproductive Investigation International grant for 2019 and I am the only citizen from the UK and one out of three worldwide to receive this award for 2019. The collaboration is multi-disciplinary with disciplines including biology and chemical engineering.

Results and Impact Some 100 school students attended the MRC Festival 2019 organised by researchers at the MRC Centre for Reproductive Health to learn about fertility preservation and experience hands-on science by participating in games and competitions on standard science laboratory techniques. Students learned about what research is being done within the Centre and how this research is important to the general public. They also attended seminar on career development which triggered questions and discussion among the students and between students and researchers.

Results and Impact A full day of engagement and activities for young pupils and their families including: use of our microscopes to make their own discoveries, learning about how the human body fights disease, make their own science art to take home, and try out many other hands-on activities! Our stand sparked joy in kids who were queuing to learn more about science.
