Can the Solar Nebular field be recorded through impacts?

I am studying the potential for low-velocity impacts (<2km/s) in the early solar system between asteroids to have recorded an ambient magnetic field. Using carefully designed experiments with the Solid Mechanics & Materials Engineering group at Oxford, we are able to impact a chondrite precursor analog within a magnetic field and then further examine the sample's magnetic properties. We hope to offer an alternative explanation to the magnetisation of meteorites, displaying the significant role of low-velocity impacts in planetary nebulae.
