Impulsive energy release in the Sun's atmosphereImpulsive energy release in the Sun's atmosphere

Lead Research Organisation: University of Glasgow
Department Name: College of Science and Engineering

Abstract

This project will explore energy release in the solar atmosphere through the use of the X-ray imaging spectroscopy. Using some of the latest X-ray observations of the Sun's atmosphere, the student will investigate plasma heating and particle acceleration, combining this with other multi-wavelength data (i.e. EUV). The determined physical parameters can be investigated in the context of models of this energy release.
